My students need a classroom set of scientific calculators so that their progress in math class is not interrupted when we suddenly have to share resources with other teams in the building.

My Students

Our sixth grade is comprised of 130 amazing students, many of whom come from bilingual households and receive free or reduced price lunch. Thriving in an ocean of opportunity, on last year's end of grade test, the shark team showed remarkable academic growth, regardless of demographics. In fact, several of our learners made grade level proficiency in Language Arts and Math for the first time in several years. We need your assistance as we swim toward the shore of academic success.

My Project

We are requesting your assistance with putting a permanent set of calculators in our math class. Our students are required to know the functionality of scientific calculators to use on their local, district and state assessments. To assist with that, we are provided with a classroom set of Calculators that May or May Not be available at all times due to them being pulled from our class for use elsewhere in the school.

A classroom set of Calculators will allow this valuable resource to always be available as our learners work diligently to bridge the achievement gap.

Consistent availability is paramount because it allows us to ensure that this group of learners will have the opportunity to learn the functionality and means to incorporate this functionality in 21st Century problem solving with an assurance that their resources will not disappear when they may need them the most. Additionally, this will help them with the basic idea of consistency and reliability for the use of Technology in the classroom.
