They are amazingly fast, something the old ones definitely are not. The students love that they have a device they can borrow to keep on going and not have the frustration of fighting with a device or getting behind. These new devices are able to run every program that we utilize so students are not having to complete an alternate assignment or not be able to work with thier peers during class. As a 1:1 district, we utilize technology daily for at least part of the daily work. Much of their work is completed and turned in online to save on paper, so these ensure that technology is available whenever there is a need for multiple students. Many will utilize my room to charge their device to get them through the rest of the day so they grab a loaner and get to work. I also utilize these to preset station work when there is a simulation to explore or research to complete so they do not have to walk around the room with their devices. They used these novels to not only study these elements of fiction but to also apply them through various activities and projects such as one-pagers, speed debating and newspaper creative writing! The kids were seriously all smiles and laughs as they did this activity. They gained a great understanding of how the muscles in the uterus have to work in order to push out the baby. It was a great model of the female reproductive system, and the kids had a blast finding out if they got a boy or girl and picking out names. The ball would pop out and they would all shout \"It's a girl!\" or \"It's a boy!\" Many great conversations were started from this activity and students were questioning why it took theirs so long to come out, but others not so much. They wanted to complete it a couple of times so each person could have a turn pushing the \"baby\" all of the way out. \r\nThank you for providing our students with a great model and activity to complete to really learn how the muscular system works with the female reproductive system to help move the baby through the birth canal. This body system is usually awkward for this age group, but this activity made it more fun than awkward for them. It allowed them to really make the connections I was hoping for and was a great way to finish out this system.
