Students had the best time trying to compete against each other while they were figuring out which way to throw the ball to give it the best trajectory for success. They really had to adjust the angle and force used to try and get the ball into the different tubes to complete thier tic tac toe. The students have certainly enjoyed having an additional Chromebook to use in our classroom when theirs is down for numerous reasons. It has helped keep learning moving forward no matter what is going on. The sensors have been an amazing addition to flip some additional physics labs and make them more tech advanced. This will help students if they go into certain fields as they are getting experience reading real-time data. It has helped them determine why lines move the way they do in motion graph reading. They can add them into water bottle rockets that are built and get accurate data for when they are in the air and coming down. We can also add the temperature probes to get accurate data on boiling points and more. They are so versatile that I cannot wait to find new ways to use them. The chargers have been so helpful for students that have lost their chargers. I also keep a few of them in the room so students that just need to charge but didn't bring thier charger can just borrow it for the class period and charge their device. We cannot wait to begin to use it with all of our classes so that all of our students will get to have these immersive experiences multiple times throughout their middle school years at our school. I have already found some places where we can rent shows for several days. I am going to train all of the science teachers next week and we are just so excited for the opportunity to bring these experiences to our classes. There were many positive comments about the event, and everyone seemed to appreciate the extra boost in navigation throughout the building. The students were excited to help me set them up, they thought it was really cool that they collapse down and really enjoyed holding them up and watching the pieces fall down and all snap into place. They are amazingly fast, something the old ones definitely are not. The students love that they have a device they can borrow to keep on going and not have the frustration of fighting with a device or getting behind. These new devices are able to run every program that we utilize so students are not having to complete an alternate assignment or not be able to work with thier peers during class. As a 1:1 district, we utilize technology daily for at least part of the daily work. Much of their work is completed and turned in online to save on paper, so these ensure that technology is available whenever there is a need for multiple students. Many will utilize my room to charge their device to get them through the rest of the day so they grab a loaner and get to work. I also utilize these to preset station work when there is a simulation to explore or research to complete so they do not have to walk around the room with their devices.
