The kids that speak Pashto were so excited to be able to also have a translation pen to use. It has helped them tremendously with completing their work while working on their English skills. When students have an assignment on the computer, they are able to highlight the section and put it into Google translate to help them understand. While we are moving away from computers with our notebooks and lab books, they do not have Google Translate to help them translate. These pens have played a tremendous role in their success in completion of work by being able to translate without having to try to type it into the computer. For those that are low literacy in their own language, it also says it to them in their language. So those that benefit from hearing the language, can also have what they need as they build thier confidence with their English proficiency. We have figured out some directions that should be included for when we get our own printer in order to help ensure that every student is able to follow them and create their model.
