Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
At the end of the school year, my fourth-graders will be taking their end of your grade test. One of the biggest challenges for them is processing and understanding nonfiction texts.
The class is comprised of 50 students.
The majority of my students are English Language Learners coming from various places around the world. My student speak many different languages at home and are working hard to learn English at school! Our Title I school houses nearly 1,200 students and is located in North Carolina. My students are extremely hard-working and have a strong desire to learn but at times our school lacks the materials and resources for students to get ahead.
My Project
Reading is the basis for all education. These TIME for Kids magazines will enhance my students learning experiences and will provide them with the necessary skills to break down text and succeed in the world of understanding and comprehension. We will use these magazines during whole group instruction as well as workstations and independent practice. These magazines will allow students to practice the following skills: finding evidence, compare and contrast, making inferences, and more. All of which are essential skills to master in order to be career and college ready. Ultimately these magazines will help develop our future leaders.
We will use these ink cartridges to print out and download online books from various websites and online programs!
