"Treat a man as he is and he will remain as he is. Treat a man as he can and should be, and he will become as he can and should be." My students are curious and eager to learn. I want them to become what I know they can and will be...successful!
I am a first-grade teacher in a high poverty school.
We are a Title I school and also participate in the free and reduced rate lunch program. All of our students are eligible to receive free breakfast and lunch each school day.
My students have had no exposure to social studies and our district does not have materials for social studies education at the first grade level. A subscription to Time for Kids will benefit my students in two ways. First, they will gain exposure to social studies topics that are presented in an engaging, easy to access format. Second, students will have the opportunity to experience non-fiction text in an age appropriate format.
Non-fiction reading exposes students to the world around them, and provides opportunities for reluctant readers to be engaged in reading about topics that interest them.
A subscription to Time for Kids will provide many learning opportunities for my first grade students.
