Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"What country is to the south of the United States?" "Baltimore!" My students have not been exposed to the world around throughout their lives. Time For Kids teaches children about life outside of their city.

My 5th grade students come from a low income area in which the only opportunities that they have to experience the world come from school.

They are not exposed to current events, only those that they might see while flicking through the TV channels. They are very eager to learn about anything that is given to them, they just need the resources. Our school's budget has been cut drastically and therefore field trips and supplemental supplies, such as Time For Kids, has been eliminated.

My Project

Time For Kids will allow my students to experience life outside of their city. They will learn about world issues, current events, and through the World Edition, they will learn about life in other parts of the world. This magazine will motivate my students to read non-fiction and will open their eyes to the world.

By reading Time For Kids, my students will learn about the injustices in our world.

The magazine will motivate the students to play an active role in our society. It will teach them to be top-rate citizens in their community. It will help them to become even better people than they already are!
