FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Ranes's classroom raised $212

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The almost 900 students at our school live in a low-income neighborhood with limited access to basic school supplies. We are a Title I school with almost all of the students qualifying for free breakfast and free lunch each day. On average, 2-3 students in my classroom are considered homeless and struggle to find suitable housing. They qualify for assistance through The McKinney Vento Homeless Assistance Act.
Although my students have limited access to resources, they are enthusiastic about coming to school each day to learn many new standards.
I look forward to giving my students many of the much-needed supplies this year by asking generous donors to provide these supplies.
My Project
Each year, I incorporate financial literacy into my instruction, especially during math instruction. We create a pretend income and real-life expenses, and the students learn how to budget the money they earn. Over the years, it has been interesting to listen to the discussions about what they are able to afford and how they need to curtail their spending.
TIME For Kids magazine has partnered with Jean Chatzky to print Your Money, a weekly magazine for students with various financial topics, and I would like a class set of this magazine.
I would like a weekly subscription to TIME For Kids to allow my students to have weekly access to relevant financial topics.
