My students must keep up with the latest advancements in education to spark an interest in reading. Education is changing every single day, and so are the interest of my students. Students in my classroom like to read about current events and fun facts. My school media center doesn't have a magazine subscription, so I would like to have Time for Kids to hold their interests and keep them reading.
Struggling readers will often pick up a shorter, colorful, print magazine because the pictures and visuals are less intimidating that a typical book.
Students who read these magazines find reading fun and begin to read more for enjoyment! Helping students remember that reading is fun is perfect way to build lifelong readers. Informational writing in magazines are a gateway to better reading skills for all readers. My students will love getting their hands on Time for Kids.
