Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
In many urban communities, students are not supplied with the same tools and materials found in more affluent areas. My students are growing to be lifelong learners, and they are in need of resources to help them develop and strengthen their understanding of current events.
My students are dedicated to their development as lifelong learners.
At our school, our students have learned that they have the power to "write the future". My students are growing as readers and need to build their fluency to access the written material across all content areas. They are not just learning how to read but how to stay aware of issues and news in their community and world through news. They are in need of tools that will aid them in practicing reading and help them become successful and knowledgeable citizens in our community.
My Project
The TIME For Kids magazines I have requested will provide my students with reading materials that challenge and engage them, exercising literacy, comprehension, and creative thinking. My students will be able to engage with the texts and use them for various purposes in the classroom. The wide variety of topics explored in TFK will allow my students to continue pursue their love of reading and explore multiple informational sources.
