Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach a first/second grade combo class at an International Baccalaureate elementary school. My school is also in a low socioeconomic area. The abilities and resources that my students have vary but they are all hard-working, caring individuals. We all learn from each other and have a great sense of community in our classroom.

My students are inquirers and love to learn!

My goal through DonorsChoose is to expose my students to a variety of hands-on learning experiences. I am hoping to give them experiences that they wouldn't be able to get otherwise.

My Project

We are always looking for exciting, non-fiction text and TIME For Kids is just that.

Not only will TIME For Kids give my second graders text that they are excited to read, but it is also aligned to our state science standards.

That's a win-win.

We will also use TIME For Kids articles for our informational writing. Students will use the articles to find facts about interesting topics.

There are online components that we will be able to utilize, such as videos that go along with the articles, not to mention the simple excitement of having their own magazine. My students will LOVE it!
