This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
First grade is an exciting year full of many social and developmental changes. I have a very engaged group of students and they love to learn. However, there are times when “teachable moments” are interrupted due to outdated and insufficient materials, that I am using to teach them.
Our 100-year-old school is a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural school, serving students in pre-k through 8th grade.
We celebrate diversity on a daily basis and look for ways to create a learning environment that appeals to all types of learners. We are nestled in a south side Chicago neighborhood, walking distance from a large university.
My Project
TIME for Kids offers age-appropriate, non-fiction, journalism for students at every grade level. TIME for Kids supports standards-based daily instruction and can be used in guided reading, independent reading, science, and social studies.
Time for Kids inspires students to respond, act, and grow as global citizens.
This resource connects daily curriculum to daily current events allowing students to learn about compelling topics as they read. Students can in turn share their thoughts and opinions about topics, creating a rich classroom dialogue.
With this subscription each First Grade student will receive their own copy to read and enjoy with others in their learning community. Students will be able to take the magazine home, sharing what they have learned with their families, increasing the home to school connection.
