Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Who's a champ?" " I'm a Champ!" My students chant out loud every day to remind themselves that they are the champions in learning.
The sparks for learning start in the hearts of these little children in kindergarten.
My students are bilingual learners in a Korean English Dual Language program. More than half of them are ELD learners and they need effective educational aids and supplies to support their learning and continue to grow as champions. Having access to new learning materials that meet their needs in second language acquisition will broaden their young minds and assist them in becoming the successful learners they hope to be when they shout out, "I'm a champ!"
My Project
The iPad minis that were funded through DonorsChoose.org five years ago are getting outdated. The updates on the existing apps cannot be made, and the new educational apps cannot be downloaded. One of them lost the ability to change volume levels, and the other ones are getting slower every year.
Upgrades on the iPads are needed to continue to make an impact on the technology integrated learning in the classroom.
Students read online books and play educational games to reinforce reading and math skills. Furthermore, it boosts up the level of students' learning by focusing on their level of skills and concepts to advance at their own pace.
iPads are great independent learning devices, and my students can benefit so much by having upgraded technology in their hands.
