My Project
The "Library Area", which is my literacy focused center, has become an area least visited in my classroom due to lack of materials & appeal. My goal this school year is to provide a fun space where students will be able to explore literacy materials with their peers during choice time. This will give my students the opportunity to practice and apply what they've learned during whole group instruction.
That means it's time for my Library Area to get a small makeover!
A new rug and sitting area will give this space a fresh look. Books, puppets, & literacy file folder games would be provided; however, I am in need of simple alphabet puzzles since my students love puzzles. I am also hoping to build the bridge from school to home by sending home "Alphabet Bags". The reusable tote bags, alphabet books, & animal letter patches will be used to create these bags so students can find items at home that begin with the letter on the bag. I will then place the alphabet bags in the Library Area for the week so students will have time to explore and sort what is inside. There's nothing like bringing toys from home to school! With your help, I know we can recreate a space where learning is FUN!
