My Students

My K-5th grade students here in Texas are a hard working group. I am the pull-out intervention teacher at my neighborhood school. The wide range of students I work with include those with dyslexia and others in need of intervention in either reading or math.

Enthusiastic, determined, and committed, my students are eager to come to group and ready to learn.

Each child works hard to stay focused and take away something positive from our time together. My goal is to meet the needs of each individual child.

My Project

The classroom environment helps set the tone for daily learning. Students are empowered when they have input in their learning. One major goal at our school is teach our students to be in tune with how they learn best. This includes knowing where they learn best. Funding this project will give my students the seating option of using inflatable exercise balls or a rocking bowl. These options will allow for movement because being still isn't always a good thing. Giving the students a choice of seats makes our environment a comfortable place to learn and grow. Having flexible seating available allows students to physically become more comfortable while they are learning. Research supports the idea that dynamic seating options can be used to improve attention in students. We all learn best when we are comfortable!
