My students are noble, caring and intelligent bilingual 2nd graders from one of the most challenging neighborhoods in Fort Worth, Texas. Most of them are Mexican immigrants or South American immigrants who seek a quality learning opportunity that can help them achieve success. Our school is going through a rough transition phase, and these kids need all the help in order to be successful regardless of the situations around them. They are curious, bright and witty kids with hunger for learning, and with a mission: success from now to college.
My students will use the wobble chairs when they come to the teacher table for their daily small group guided reading and guided math. It will provide them freedom to move and control over their environment. They will also use the cushion as a special reading corner price.
Flexible seating improves children's oxygen flow to the brain.
It also helps with behavior, better health and mostly improved academic performance. My students will benefit greatly from this, specially when they live such a rough life at a very your age.
At home there is much that my students lack. I want to provide them of a space where they feel calm, productive, successful, and safe. I want them to be able to read at or above grade level, and to master the necessary math skills needed to get to 3rd grade.
