My students need medicine balls and jump ropes to improve agility.

My players come from challenging environments where aggression is often the answer to many problems. Many come from high crime and poverty-stricken areas. A lot of our students have issues related to anger and disrespect. Some of them have trouble interacting appropriately with one another, teachers, and administrators. These students have sometimes gone through some type of trauma, a divorce, or been the victims of abuse or neglect. Our district is 100% free lunch for all students. Basic necessities are not often a given. They often lack consistent parental support. Some are doing the best they can. Sports is where some of the kids get the chance to be successful. It teaches patience and determination. They get the support that they often are lacking. Participating in sports helps some students get into college and develop skills that will help them later in life. Some of my students often feel as if no one notices them or acknowledges their positive behavior.
Our student-athletes are passionate about all their after-school endeavors. But there's one sport that gets our entire school excited: Basketball.
Our players that participate in our basketball program are regularly the students who show the most growth in the classroom, no doubt due to the confidence, friendships, and leadership skills that they develop through being part of a successful team.
For some of the kids, this will be the primary way they can pay for college. This equipment will improve their game and not to mention their chance of getting a scholarship.
But unfortunately the school district has very limited funding for sports, and that funding has continued to decrease over the years. The only two sports they now support on their own are Basketball and Track & Field, and the days of school districts having the funds needed to supply sports teams with the equipment they need are long gone.
So we need your help to get quality equipment of: weight balls and jump ropes. These will help our student athletes reach their full potential.
