Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
When you step into my classroom, you can instantly pick up on the positivity of each and every one of my students. They are motivated, determined, inspiring, and ambitious young men and women. Everyone in my classroom is striving to become bilingual or even tri-lingual. The atmosphere is a fun and safe environment where students are free to explore and expand their knowledge.
Students from all over the world sit in front of me each and every day.
My students are in their mid to late teens and recently came to the United States in hopes of a better life for themselves and their families. In addition to attending school daily, most of them also work thirty to forty hours a week after school. They always enter the classroom enthusiastic and motivated. My students are eager to learn, succeed, and make the world a better place
My Project
My students need ties in order to dress professionally for an in-class presentation. They will use this attire in the future to be young professionals. Last year when I did this project, it was more meaningful to my students than I could have ever imagined and this is why I have decided to do it again. My students need ties. This project is one that is intended to benefit my students for a lifetime. So many people do not have a tie or even know how to tie one. It is an important skill that helps one enter into the professional world prepared and confident. I will give each of the ties to a student (the males and the females) and dedicate a day to teaching them how to tie the ties. Students will be required to wear the ties in a classroom presentation and will keep the ties after.The goals of the project are to encourage students to enter and to feel a part of the adult, professional world.
These students will never forget this project.
Having their own ties and knowing how to tie it, will make them feel mature, professional, and included. Hopefully, these ties are something they will be able to wear for graduation, college interviews, job interviews, and for a special occasion they want to be dressed up for.
