My Students

As a teacher in a high poverty school district, I work with students that are faced with challenges in and outside the classroom. Despite the challenges my students face, they persevere. My students are high energy, communicative, and enthusiastic learners. They have a lot of energy and are always looking for a fun way to learn. They love to get involved with the lesson in whatever way possible.

My students love to show off their work and teach their peers.

They are excited to teach each other, both in groups and in front of the class. My students are visual learners. They love to use different resources in the room to show learning strategies to their friends. The students are a great group of mathematicians, scientists, writers, and artists.

My Project

This school year is unlike any other, students are coming back into the classroom after a year of being hybrid or fully remote. Some students have not been in a physical classroom for more than a year. This year community building activities more important than any other.

A fun back to school activity will be to tie dye the white mask the school gives students and tote bags to carry school material from school to home and back.

Starting the year with a fun hands on activity will be a fun and exciting way to build community in the classroom. Sharing the tie dye in the classroom will encourage students to use each others name, share and show case their artistic ability.

Just because this is another 'different' school year doesn't mean it can't be fun. Tie dyeing will be a fun activity that the students will remember all year long.
