This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
At the beginning of each year our staff get new shirts with our school name and logo. This year we got white shirts so I decided to tie dye it. The first time I wore it to school my students LOVED it. They kept telling me how much they liked it, and they wanted to know where I bought it. When I told them that I had made it they were very impressed. The whole experience gave me a great idea, we could ALL make tie dye shirts!
We will be making tie dye shirts to help build community in our classroom.
It is very important to build community in the classroom. Everyday we say "We are a community, a group of people working for a common goal, our goal is to learn!". Community is something we work really hard to build in the beginning of the year, but it is something that needs continuous work throughout the year. Now that we have been working together for a few months I think that it would be a perfect time to do another big community project.
