Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students love to create. This year, in our reading program, we have studied the art of the Early American Civilizations, as well as the Renaissance. My students loved learning about various art styles.
I recently introduced my students to tie dye, and they loved it.
Watching their expressions as they wore their creations, made the effort worthwhile. Using the bags and dyes, they will continue to learn about how colors can be mixed to make new colors, as well as how they can have some control over the design based on how they tie the item. We will learn how even with careful planning, sometimes things look different than expected, but the surprises are beautiful. Students will have a chance to adapt what they did last time to achieve different results.
Each student will complete the project with a beautiful, unique piece to remember their 5th grade year.
