This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students attend a high-poverty school with very limited resources. 100% of students are offered a free hot breakfast and lunch. A large number of my students attend a before-school program AND an after-school program, leaving them at school for close to a total of 8-10 hours per day. There is limited parent involvement in my classroom, as most parents are busy with either work or attending school themselves. With all of this data, it is so surprising that my students are still passionate about learning, regardless of their lack of resources.
As an educator at a high poverty school, I am inspired to gather more resources for students to thrive and further their love of learning!
My Project
Every morning my students gather on the rug for shared reading. We read a big book, a poem and do some great work to build reading skills!
This double sided magnetic whiteboard would be an amazing addition to our morning routine to store and organize books, poems and magnetic letter to build words.
Students would be able to easily access and interact with materials and it would provide ample work space for small group instruction. Please help us continue to organize and display our materials in our classroom by donating to this project. We truly appreciate your generousity and enthusiasm in our education!
