it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
At our school, we believe that social emotional learning is just as essential as academics. Every day, our students navigate a complex world of emotions—big feelings like frustration, excitement, sadness, and joy.
To support students in building the skills to manage emotions, we’re creating a dedicated space and toolkit that helps students recognize, express, and regulate their feelings in a healthy, productive way.
With your support, we’ll provide small journals for emotional check-ins, reflection, and calming routines—giving students a private, consistent space to process their thoughts. Stress balls will serve as hands-on tools for self-regulation, especially in moments of overwhelm. A soft hanging net hammock will help us store our comfort plushies in an organized and accessible way, transforming our Wellness Center into a calming space that’s as functional as it is inviting.
Additionally, the Kimochis Activity Guide with pillow will equip educators with ready-to-use lessons and strategies to guide students in developing emotional vocabulary, empathy, and communication skills—all of which are vital for strong peer relationships and positive behavior choices.
These tools may seem small, but they have a big impact. They help students pause, name what they’re feeling, and choose how to move forward—whether that means taking a break, talking it out, or writing it down. When students are given accessible tools to manage their emotions, the whole classroom becomes a safer, more supportive place to learn.
