Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
A decade or so ago the popular Christmas toy was the Tickle me Elmo...today we teachers are amazed by a new ELMO, and so are our students. Students today become fully engaged in learning with technology. An ELMO is a great way to captivate young minds!
My students are energetic, kind and respectful, and extremely eager to learn.
Our school is in a very diverse community and serves a population that is full of need. About 95% of our students receive free lunch. With so many adversities to triumph over my students strive to learn, always wanting to be better, do better, work harder!
My Project
The ELMO document camera is a great tool for sharing work samples, getting students involved in activities, and a motivating piece of technology that engages the students in what they are learning. With this equipment my students can work through math problems, edit writing samples, create a work of art and share it with other students in the class immediately, and can share their enthusiasm for the activities we do in class. As we prepare our students for college, career, and life we need to expose them to technology and new ways of learning.
Working in an underfunded school district, it can be difficult to provide the students with the technology that will fully engage the students.
This tool will be utilized for many school years and have an impact on the learning and education for hundreds of children. Being able to provide real-time feed back and demonstrations with this equipment can create authentic learning and life skill connections.
