Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I would love for my students to be more aware of global issues that are happening today. My students need to understand the power they have and the amount of change they can have on society and government.
My students are mostly low-income, Latino and African American students.
These kids are curious about what is happening in the world. Many of them would like to have careers in the Health and bio-technical sectors. Our school is small, about 400 students.
My Project
Malala's story is so powerful. I feel like my students see that their world is what it is, but I hope they will see how much of a difference she has had at such a young age. My motivation is that they feel empowered by her story and use it to change their community.
This donation will allow 150 students, 37% of my school, to visit a different part of town that many haven't seen.
The content of the film is so empowering and I hope that this will motivate my students to take steps to better their community.
