This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
It is easy to inspire students when they can visualize themselves doing things regardless of how unimaginable. These students see themselves in college, making a difference in their lives. By the end of the school year they will be inspired and inspire others to seek a lifelong love of learning.
My school receives Title I Funding and struggles to gain access to much needed supplies every year.
That doesn't mean that the students should struggle to learning. These students have identified themselves beyond the learning of books to include learning to care and help others. They have helped raise funds for the school, volunteered to help feed the homeless and poor and created a community service club. While they do great help for others they also learn that they can also learn to help themselves. Good things come from hard work and my students are ready.
This year is going to be a challenging year. They are going to be required to think deeply, self-motivate and quite honestly learn how much the responsibility of doing well in college depends on them. We can do this because as Americans, the time and place is right to achieve success.
My Project
My students will be completely blown away, as they always are, with the amount of technology available to help them in their studies. They are used to Texas Instruments' products like the TI-84 graphing calculator. However, the TI-Nspire does so much more. We will explore ideas, concepts and logic of mathematics in College Algebra, Pre-Calculus and Calculus by using the graphing calculators in math lab settings.
The graphing calculator will also help us find an answer and then construct a similar response algebraically. It would be a unique study method.
There are so many applications the N spire does which goes beyond that of previous graphing calculators. Students will then be able to find more than one way to solve mathematical and algebraic equations. More importantly, they ti N spire graphing calculator will help alleviate reservations students might have in learning mathematical concepts that go beyond what they deem comfortable.
This project will demonstrate that to whom much is given much is required.
It will demonstrate responsibility in learning and that they have much control over how much they achieve. There are many positive effects that come with this project, the most important of which is how much outside communities care to help further the lives of others.
