My Project
Our school building is nicely landscaped with a large backyard lawn along with a garden and many different creatures of nature. Unfortunately, there is little shade. Our goal is to offer both indoor and outdoor learning environments for our students.
These canopies would provide a shaded environment for students to better distance themselves, alleviate the necessity for facial coverings, and help reduce stress.
Simply creating a safer, outdoor space will further our mission to meet and exceed our students' physical and social-emotional needs especially for our English Language Learners and our SPED students.
Also, we have Field Day, which supports our social emotional learning curriculum we have been working on school wide. At the end of the year, all students will participate in a grade level field day. This is a team sport game day where homerooms compete in sports that they have been taught though the PE department.
The students are outside most of the day in the month of May.
It has the potential of being hot and sunny. The tents provide shade and an area for rest. We set the tents up in a row so the students can be in the shade while watching the competitions.
