I teach in a school in a very small town. This is my second year with this same group of students. I loved them so much at the end of last year that I just couldn't send them to the next grade without me! The majority of my students have special learning needs. In addition to this, a large part of the students at my school come from families with low income, which adds its own obstacles to the learning process. My students are so eager to learn to become better readers and mathematicians and are working so hard to achieve this!
My Project
In almost every classroom across America there are fluorescent lights providing the light for students to see. These harsh lights cot only allow the students to see, they also contribute to inattention, hyperactivity, and lack of focus. My project will help cut the harsh glare of these lights to provide a warmer light for my students. These light covers are a light blue cover that magnetically attaches to the lights helping to eliminate eyestrain, headaches, and frustration. Many of my students have special learning needs. Because the classroom lights are so harsh they are constantly asking to turn off the lights, which makes it hard to read. The soft warm glow given by these light covers will help with the frustration my students feel when trying to concentrate under these bright lights.
