My Students
Welcome to the Airplanes PreK class! My students are 3 and 4-year-olds who attend a Title 1 public school in Washington, DC. My class has general education and special education students. My school is a neighborhood school and many families have attended it for generations. As 3 and 4 year olds, many of my students are in school for the first time. They experience the world as full of wonder and possibility. This gives me hope and inspiration every day.
My Project
As young children, my students are naturally observant and inquisitive. I want to build on these qualities and encourage them to notice, question, and wonder. The development of these qualities is essential in order for children to become life-long learners. A microscope and magnifying glass will allow my students to look closely and see small details in objects of interest. Cameras will allow them to document their observations, directly from their perspective. When we are outside, on walks or field trips, clipboards are an excellent surface for drawing and writing. I want my students to have real tools to observe and document, through their eyes!
