My Students
My Media Center serves over 600 students in grades K-5 who love coming into the library to read, use technology, and other project-based learning activities. This year we would like to introduce students to photography to help them focus on creativity through digital photography. It will also help with taking pictures of school activities, field trips, yearbook, online newsletter, broadcasting news announcements, and the school website. The students are enthusiastic about learning and working collaborative on projects. At this time we do not have any cameras that the students can learn on and use to photography with.
My Project
Photography is a huge opportunity for motivating students and can be used in a variety of ways for different content areas. The magic of photography is created when students take pictures that allow them to explore the world, communicate ideas, and show understanding. The magic of photography will allow students to have an additional tool to improve student learning.
Giving my students the opportunity to express themselves through digital photography is an amazing gift that will last throughout their lifetime!
Within the Media Center, students will have the opportunity to learn how to use the different aspects of the camera. They will use the cameras to document events, learn creative photography, editing and printing skills, and finally put together a gallery for the school to enjoy. The students in the class will be able to go on various field trips to take photos and use these photos to assist in the school's webpage, yearbook, and newsletter. Photography students will be able to record information that will be shared with students and parents. Students will have access to cameras in the classroom when teachers would like to capture important events and use them later for various teaching moments.
