My 4th Grade Band students are super excited about the opportunity to learn to play a band instrument! They have been eagerly waiting for some of the instruments to arrive back from repair! We have 4 students that would like to learn to play the trombone but we only have 1 trombone. The students have been working on strengthening their embouchures by playing their mouthpieces, but it is now time to assemble the entire instrument, learn how to hold it and play the first three notes.
It is extremely important for each student to have an assigned personal instrument for band. This is the instrument that the student will play the entire school year. Students are also allowed to take their instrument home to practice. By the way, my students are required to practice at home 5 days per week for at least 20 minutes. Consistent practice is necessary for success when learning to play a band instrument.
Now you understand why this is so important.
Without an assigned instrument for each student progress will be very slow. Students will have to share the instrument. Therefore all students will not be able to meet the practice requirement, nor will they be able to play altogether at the same time, which could definitely present some problems. Please help us achieve our goal.
