My students need a rolling kitchen cart and costume/makeup supplies to be able to put on two community plays this season.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
These students are from a rural, close-knit community, and they often "jump" at the opportunity to help others. They have strong work ethics and are very creative and have learned through their classes how to put on events and construct useful structures for FFA, etc. They are talented individuals who want to share their art and creativity with the world, and they actively seek to expand their knowledge daily.
The theatre course the students are engaged in provides them with a safe, fun, and creatively stimulating atmosphere where they can discover new means of expressing themselves as well as new methods of expression, such as set design.
Planning and preparedness are always encouraged, and students have the opportunity and the desire to learn skills beyond mere acting. Many of these students have a passion for construction and enjoy the creativity that this type of creation involves. They present new ideas daily and create lists for supplies required in a professional and diligent manner.
My Project
The kitchen cart needed will be essential for the students' production of The Velveteen Rabbit and The Three Little Pigs, as it will be the centerpiece of both plays. In the Velveteen Rabbit, it will be used to stage the birthday party scene and also to bring in the final rabbit once it becomes "real". In the Three Little Pigs, this wheeled cart will easily be able to be pulled on and offstage and pushed offstage when the wolf blows down the pigs' houses. The theatre students will be using Velcro to secure cardboard paintings of houses to the front of the cart to represent the pigs' homes and the cart will also be used as the basis for the general store when Farmer John switches roles and becomes a store owner.
The students have been asking for more stage makeup tutorials and specialized costumes to help them appreciate and dive deeper into their theatrical roles.
Therefore, the rest of the supplies will be used to educate the makeup and costuming team on theatrical makeup techniques and sanitary cleaning procedures of makeup equipment as well as giving students the opportunity to work with costume pieces that they will learn to inventory and take care of.
All students in the school district will end up benefiting from these supplies, as the high school theatre class will be putting on their productions for the elementary school. The students look forward to entertaining the children and have been working hard to put on the best production possible. These supplies will certainly help them to do so.
