We have a wonderful problem: too many books! A leaky ceiling limits our storage options. The space under the chalkboard on an inner wall is a little tight but just right for book storage. We need three unusually low bookcases.
My urban middle school students are readers!
We work hard together to build reading and writing skills in a mixed-grade Language Arts classroom. Thanks to DonorsChoose, we have new book collections on mold, chocolate, wild horses, love poems, fire ants, and other exciting topics. We're reading up a storm!
My Project
Promoting reading is all about selling students on that first nibble of a great new book. I try to create appealing book displays in my classroom so that my students will reach out and try something new. Organizing our classroom library is an important part of building readers.
We've been measuring and dreaming. These three bookcases will fit neatly under our board and provide lots of additional room for book display and storage. We will be able to make efficient use of an area that stays dry no matter how much it rains!
These bookcases will help turn students into readers.
We will be able to store books in baskets by theme, topic, or author so that students can easily find appealing books to read. We are creating one of the best classroom libraries in the district. Please help us keep our books clean, dry, and ready to read!
