This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Learning geometry is best when it's hands-on. This year, we are working a lot with surface area (the total value of all of the areas of the faces of a solid) and volume (the space that fills the solid. While a lot of our students' work is in books, notebooks, and digital, building these solids, decorating them, and measuring them, will bring this idea to life. For this project, students will pick one of six solids to explore and measure for surface area, and they will use the same solid to find the value of the volume after cutting, building, and decorating the solid. At the end of the project, we will hang all of these beautiful two and three dimensional images up for the school to see and enjoy.
