Three C's: Cardiovascular Endurance, Cooperation, and Competition

Help me give my students the giant cageball and 2 sets of flags/belts for flag football to help us continue our goals of Cardiovascular improvement, Competition, and Cooperation in our PE classes!

My Students

We are a fairly newly formed rural middle school (4th year), which is a result of school closures to help keep our school corporation in business. The middle school is comprised of about 200 students in grades 6-8. The challenges are great. Our students live in a poverty-stricken county and go to school in a financially strapped school corporation. Over half of the students in the corporation receive free or reduced price meals. Many of our families struggle to make ends meet.

Despite our humble beginnings, our students and school personnel take pride in our school.

My colleagues and I believe in making the most of the opportunity that we have to make a difference to the children who have been entrusted to our care. In spite of limited resources, we strive to offer our students extraordinary learning opportunities.

My Project

I plan for the students to use the cage ball to enjoy the game of Kinball and other sports. Kinball is a unique sport that emphasizes teamwork, cooperation, sportsmanship, and good health. The sport has grown internationally and is played by about four million people in sixteen countries worldwide and has the potential of becoming an Olympic sport! The flag football belts and flags will be added to help us continue playing the sport of flag football.

Our emphasis with the new equipment is cardiovascular endurance, cooperation, and competition!

The cage ball is known for increasing heart rate which in turn can lead to improved cardiovascular endurance. There are many cooperation activities and competitive activities that can be done with the equipment requested making for an exciting, fun, and healthy time in our physical education classes!
