My students come from across our urban school district. More than half are 1st or 2nd generation Americans, and many will be the first in their family to go to college. In fact, nearly 99% of our students go to college.
Many students don't have easy access to computers at home, so we try to provide them access to technology at school.
I am so proud of how reflective, hardworking, and curious they are. Technology and internet access is so fundamental to what they learn and create nowadays, and access at our school is often sketchy. My students are on the road to making a positive impact in their community, country, and world and in the meantime, our school's goal is to provide them with 21st century skills to help them do so.
My Project
There's nothing like having a great internet-based activity and finding out that there are not enough working ChromeBooks in the cart! Students can do all sorts of worthwhile classroom activities using ChromeBooks, such as working on group projects, researching topics in any content area, and taking practice tests, to name a few.
Our ChromeBook carts are in constant use, so the ChromeBooks eventually succumb to wear and tear; I need three more ChromeBooks to replace some non-functioning ones.
These additional ChromeBooks will ensure that we have a full class set in our cart. ChromeBook carts create greater access to technology in the classroom, and this access translates into a better educational experience for my students. The more fully loaded Chromebook carts we have, the better my fellow teachers and I can provide students with access to the wealth of information and applications available on the internet!
