Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
In our low-income/high poverty school district where 100% of the students qualify for free lunch, my students are faced with many challenges both in and out of the classroom. To combat the many challenges they face, I am determined to provide and expose them to the technology and skills they need to succeed in the 21st century. They are curious, eager to learn, and desperate to please anyone who takes an interest! My students don't have technology at home so I'm looking to provide it in our classroom for them to experience. Keeping them engaged and learning new ways to incorporate technology is a goal.
My Project
Hands-on manipulatives and centers will help reinforce and engage my first graders in reading and math. Having the opportunity to learn collaboratively with each other is key to retaining skills taught.
Building reading, writing and math skills while playing games with friends will bring the fun back to our class while practicing important skills!
It will be so refreshing to see my students playing with letters and numbers on the carpet in small groups again. I can’t wait to see them all together again! These materials will be beneficial to all future students.
