My Students
Hola`! Ni-hao! Ciao! I teach ELL (English Language Learner) students from 12 different countries of varying English levels. We believe everyone can achieve the American dream. We want our students to feel confident that they can succeed and fulfill their hopes and dreams no matter where they come from and what kinds of challenges this new way of living is bringing to us.
Our school is a Title I school with many living at the poverty level.
The students love coming to school because it's a safe learning environment with a caring staff and support system. Most of the students in our class are Hispanic newcomers, with a few Asian, Middle Eastern, and Eastern European. With so many different cultures and languages in the classroom, we feel a sense of unity when the students get a chance to engage with technology. Even though there are so many differences going on, students of different cultures find the ability to communicate especially when technology is at the forefront.
We are fortunate enough to have a 6th grade STEM cohort this school year to raise levels of creativity, and scientific and mathematical thinking. These are the job skills that are in high demand.
My Project
Headphones are one of those underrated items that you don't think about but is so needed in many settings. I would like to give my student their own set of headphone for use when they watch individual videos. Extra corded mice for the computer is another such item. They somehow keep disappearing or break from my room so it's basically a consumable that needs to be reordered periodically. And finally a case for my computer that I often let a child use to help protect it against falls and scratches.
