Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The specific items I am asking for will make a difference in my students' learning by giving them the opportunities to learn about history, but also to practice their reading skills. My students come from low-income families, and by giving them access to books that they find interesting, it feeds their desire to not only read but learn about American history.

My goal for this project is to instill a love of reading and learning in my students.

I always tell them that reading allows you to travel anywhere, anytime, anyplace. I have a classroom library that I am always looking to add to. My students come to me, asking for new books (I had a group of boys make a list and bring it to me) and I do my best to accommodate. If I can get them reading, it is money worth spent!

My students are special because they are hard workers. I am a second year teacher, and this group has worked very hard to get to where they are this school year. I am so very proud of how they have grown not only academically, but has human beings, too. They have worked hard at school, but they have a fun sense of humor, are kind to others, and look out for each other without being asked.
