My students need bookshelves and containers to easily find self selected reading materials that they can read independently. Our room needs two bookshelves and storage bins to make reading accessible to all.

My Students

I have the joy of working with seven and eight year olds in a suburban community school. Our population is going through dramatic changes and we have had a large increase in at-risk populations. This includes students who are homeless, economically disadvantaged, and/or who are learning English as a second language.

Our school prides itself on being an integral part of the community.

We believe each child is able to have a positive impact on society and that our purpose is to provide each one with the tools and skills to reach their full potential. Each person, whether a student, parent, or staff member, is valued and appreciated.

My Project

The ECR4KIDS classroom storage cabinets and Help Yourself book bins will allow for books to be displayed and accessible to students in the classroom. They will fill a space that is currently empty. These cabinets will be used to hold books that students can access at any time.

With these bookshelves students will take ownership of their reading choices and view our classroom as a place where reading is valued - and it's value is evident by the space it is given.

These bookshelves will increase reading engagement and opportunities in reading for students. The book bins will allow students to take ownership of their classroom library and its organization.
