Help me give my students dissection specimens to engage them in the course material and to develop their love for anatomy.

My Project
Anatomy is an upper-level science course, in which students enroll for a variety of reasons: (1) They love science, (2) They want to be challenged by a rigorous course to better prepare them for their future endeavors, (3) They are interested in a career in healthcare and want to know more about that field, or (4) They simply want to know more about their own bodies. Traditionally, my anatomy students have been high achievers who want exposure to difficult concepts, and who want more responsibilities in their lab activities than their peers who are enrolled in introductory science courses.
My goals are to be able to provide my students with dissection specimens so that they can be competitive with students in other school districts, who have regular access to these same materials.
Access to these opportunities will positively affect my students who want to go into healthcare, because they will be completing their first dissections in a friendly, low-risk environment rather than having their college or work training programs be their first exposures to these techniques.
In my past classes, when students performed dissections many have said that they gained a new respect for the human body because they saw how intricate and specialized each organ was. They also reported that they were able to make connections to the lecture material that would not have been possible without having the dissection specimens available to them. One student told me that she is eager to pursue veterinary medicine as a career after working on the fetal pig dissection in my classroom.
It is my sincere hope that you will consider donating to my project. I would love to be able to bring this field of science alive for my incoming 2025-2026 anatomy students.
