My Project

I need materials to support two hands-on inquiry labs for a girls' leadership academy. In the first lab, my students will investigate the role of osmosis in cellular activities using the corn syrup to explore the cellular process in hypertonic, hypotonic, and isotonic solutions. In the second lab, students will demonstrate the role of light, chlorophyll, carbon dioxide, and oxygen in photosynthesis. They will test elodea leaves grown in light and dark for the presence of starch. They will also collect oxygen produced by photosynthesis and demonstrate the depletion of carbon dioxide from water as photosynthesis occurs. The kit includes a free one-year subscription to digital resources that support 3-dimensional instruction for NGSS.

Hands-on and innovative labs and activities are crucial for engaging students in STEM.
