Help me give my students a fun filled STEM project based activities for the classroom. After attending a training at the U.S. Naval Academy, I'd like to bring real life applications into the classroom.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Hands on projects allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. After attending a professional development day of activities at the US Naval Academy, I learned of several cost efficient and fun assignments that would keep my students engaged. Currently my students are learning about how electricity is generated.
With real world application of learning my students are noticeably more engaged in their work and excited to participate.
The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them activities that are related to everyday technology. The iPad allows students to access their emails and assignments, in class when their devices are not charged, available or damaged. The snacks are for students who do not have access to the free lunch but have not been able to get a meal due to different situations. The supplies, including the shaving cream, batteries and electric tape allow my students to engage in fun and safe projects. The students will learn about technology and engineering through activities related to surface tension, physics and polar chemical structures, just to name a few things. Learning is a never ending journey and I would love to continue to be able to give to my students with these items.
