My Students

My students are wonderful! Aren't they all? I teach on the island of Maui, Hawaii. My students are particularly interested in the environment and live a geographically rich life connected to the ocean and mountains surrounding us. If there ever was a group of students that want to help "Save the Earth", it is these kids.

The people of Hawaii are immersed in the culture and my students show reverence and a true love of learning.

We are somewhat isolated from the mainland USA and the rest of the world for that matter, so it is becoming increasingly important to me to make my lessons relevant and connect to real-world circumstances. We know knowledge is power and they are ready for it.

My Project

Our classroom is our happy place! As you walk in the front door there is a sign that says "This Classroom is Our Happy Place" and all the students names are around it. I work hard to make sure that all my students feel safe and happy at school. This rug will add to the magic in our classroom, as it matched perfectly with our theme and mantra! We currently do not have any rugs in the classroom and that is a bit of a bummer because we don't have a cozy spot for a read aloud or class discussions. We would really appreciate this rug for our classroom! Mahalo
