Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

It's so important to me that my Hispanic and Latin American students feel proud of who they are and where they come from. We all have unique skin tones, a beautiful spectrum of shades within the same color family. When it's time to create art, it can be challenging to find colors that truly match one's skin tone, which is why it's so important to have a wider range of options available. This helps every student see themselves accurately and feel comfortable in their skin.

When you're proud of who you are – your background, your culture, and your unique qualities – it lays a strong foundation for everything else.

This self-acceptance then frees you up to focus on what you can become.

When students feel proud of their identity, they're more open to adjusting and thriving in a diverse place like the United States, where dreams can come true with effort and dedication. Books are a fantastic way to learn about other countries and cultures, broadening our understanding of the world and our place within it.
