This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
"My chair is broken." "This screw fell out of my chair." "This chair wobbles." "My chair is too short for my desk." These are some of the things I hear daily from my students. Can you imagine sitting in a classroom where the chairs are old and broken and not being able to do anything about it?
I teach in a low income school district and each year more and more cuts are being made to our school.
We lack the money and resources needed to buy the "extra" things to make our school day run smoother. Our school has been drastically affected by the budget cuts, and it is up to the teachers to purchase the materials and supplies we need.
My Project
I am asking for a set of new classroom student chairs. Our current chairs are old, broken, and worn out. Many of them wobble and squeak when the students sit on them. Often times, the screws fall out of the chairs and we then have to wait for them to get fixed. Many of the chairs are also not the right size for the students' desks. Some chairs are not tall enough and others are so tall that the students' legs do not fit under the desk. The uncomfortable chairs are a distraction to the students. Instead of focusing on learning, they are constantly worrying about their chair. My students are in need of a sturdy, comfortable classroom chair.
Please consider funding my project.
This request for new student chairs will help create a learning environment that gives my students a fair chance. By providing us with these chairs, we can take the worry out of the day, and we all will be prepared and ready to learn. Thank you for your time and commitment to my students and their education.
