My students need a professional-level amplifier for a larger venue.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students are always eager to know what is going to be different about today. I love that they come with natural curiosity. They are eager to share of themselves with me and with the class. Whenever we encounter a problem together, I push them to be problem solvers; to think outside the box.
In a student population of 1600+, my students come to me by way of reputation.
These are the ones who don't quite fit into the more socially accepted groups like athletics and cheer squad. Or, maybe sometimes, they're looking for a place where they can safely and comfortably express themselves. The socio-economic situation is, what some may consider, a factor. The school provides free lunch for 100% of it's students. I don't believe this to be a factor. These students are quick to decide that they won't be a statistic, when they see that there is opportunity, a real chance, for them to be successful beyond high school. The upperclassmen are quick to remind the new students that maturity is not a number, it's an attitude and a choice. This is a school of fighters, looking to take advantage of any opportunity that might come their way.
My Project
There is a need for a professional-grade amplification system in our classroom. The 10-watt practice amps cannot be heard when we have concerts. Also, we play a wide variety of music that calls for various sounds and effects. It will be up to the student to research the necessary sounds needed to emulate the original sounds of the guitarist that they're covering. Additionally, students will be required to innovate new sounds by programming effects and experimenting with signal process and chaining of effects. Think of the guitarists you know and try to imagine how they achieve the sound that they're so well recognized for. The students will be encouraged to design a signature sound.
The Fine Arts are integral to the total human experience , therefore essential to the core curriculum.
By contributing to this project, you are helping Fine Arts to provide a safe environment for self-expression and innovation, exceeding the norm where dreams and ideas are the norm. The most exciting part of this is watching how the students develop as musicians in their own right. You can be a part of that process, while helping the students take ownership of their own education.
