Help me give my students current events through Scholastic News magazines.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Assani's classroom raised $270
This project is fully funded
Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our classroom is made up of a diverse group of learners from low socio-economic households in an inner-city community. Although for many this is a challenge, these students are linguistically rich and share an enthusiasm in their quest for knowledge. They come from predominantly Spanish-speaking homes and come to school and learn a second language, English. They are like sponges and soak up all we have to teach them and more! They absolutely love being at school each day and are so happy to show everyone what they have learned.
My Project
This project will help our learners understand current events at their reading level. They will have magazines in their hands to learn about many nonfiction topics in an exciting way! They will also have access to the digital platform as well where they can watch videos, learn new vocabulary, play games, and answer questions about what they’re reading. Through reading these wonderful nonfiction magazines, students will also be learning about the elements of nonfiction text and they can use these text features to help them learn about a new topic.
