I teach third grade in an high-needs community where the children deserve a chance to enhance their reading potential. I have children who read on a first grade level up to a third grade level. They all want the same thing... the gift to read.
I am a "new" teacher in an "old" classroom where there is a very limited classroom library. I have a diverse group of learners that all want the same goal - to enhance their ability to read.
We need more good, award-winning books in our classroom. As my classroom population is diverse, we wish to have books that include many cultures while teaching the same important message - "Reading is the key to success."
