Do you remember what it was like the first time you tried something new, the excitement that you felt, and the success you felt when you mastered it? That is my desire for my students, to feel success with their skills in math, science, and of course reading. They work really hard to be successful.
My students have big hearts and big dreams!
They set their goals high, and work to achieve them, despite the fact that the majority of them are living in poverty, and dealing with situations most of us can't imagine. Our Title One elementary school has over 900 students, with at least 80% receiving free or reduced lunch. The majority of our students rely on the school for their only access to technology, which is very limited and outdated.
My Project
My students could use your help. Currently, our class has two very old, outdated computers, for 20 third-grade students. I want to provide an opportunity for my students to be able to interact with the latest technology, to enhance their learning. My students know that the ultimate goal of being successful, is to have great reading comprehension. However, they also need to have great science and math skills, and to help with those skills, they need to have technology available. To add to that, the iPad mini would also allow my students to expand their success, in preparing for careers, that haven't been invented, or thought of yet. Having an iPad mini in the classroom, will help engage and motivate students, while helping them to achieve success, is so exciting! Putting this technology at my students' fingertips, opens the door to success, and helps them realize their dreams.

My students need an iPad mini to help them acquire the skills they need, to be successful with science and math, as well as, reading with the integration of technology.
My students will use the technology to help them with research projects, that will end with them authoring and illustrating their own book.
