Mrs. Akamnonu from Dallas TX is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need reading materials, such as reading and writing activity stations, magnetic letters, reading comprehensions activities, and a tabletop writing center.

I was surprised to see how many of my students were struggling. I work with a great group of students! I have to reassure them daily, "that they are smart" and "they will be able to read fluently by they end of this school year". They remind me daily that they are plugged-in and ready READ!!
I work in a high needs area.
My students love coming to school and learning everyday. Most of my students are struggling readers, but we are working very hard everyday to improve our reading skills. Our school does not receive a lot of funding, but I don't want my students to miss out. I tell them everyday that they can and will become successful readers before the end on this school year. I'm working with my students daily to ensure that they become better readers and writers. Showing them how to be expressive in their writing, and to be willing to share apart of themselves with their classmates.
My students need leveled readers such as reading and writing activity stations, magnetic letters, reading comprehensions activities, and a tabletop writing center. My students will be able to take leveled readers home so that they could read with a parent, and read to a parent nightly. This will also help build their reading fluency and comprehension. The parent will be able to first hand how their child is improving in their reading. Having the writing resources available will also help prepare the student for 4th grade writing.
This project will help my students become better readers and writers.
This is give them the confidence to know that they can learn and will be able to make a difference in our society.
