Greetings. I am a third grade teacher in Bedford Stuyvesant in Brooklyn, at the Bedford Village School, P.S. 3. Some of my students are from countries outside of the United States, and some of them have parents who are from other countries. These parents came to America to find better opportunities for their families. I also have students who were born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. I am requesting a donation of 26 tickets to go to the Broadway show "THE LION KING". I have seen the show myself. I have even worked with a group of students to raise money so that they could also go, and we did. That was a very difficult task. It was a struggle for some of their parents to come up with some of the money. I know that my students' parents work hard for the money they make to take care of their families. I do not want to stress them by requesting that type of money. I believe that the creativity, and the learning that one receives from seeing and experiencing this show is incredible. It will be an experience that my students will never forget. There are several lessons to be learned from the story The Lion King. One of the key lessons is to remember who you are. I will use this lesson to boost the self-esteem of my students, and mutual respect for our differences. I will prepare my students through language arts, music, and creative art prior to going to see the show. I have seen this play three times. I tell you it is a phenomenal experience for anyone, and especially children who may never have this opportunity. If you could find it in your heart to contribute to my vision of taking my students to see "The Lion King" on Broadway, I will be completely grateful for your generosity. Thanking you in advance for your consideration.
